Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon
Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon, a family water park
Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon is a water park for the whole family. There are 12 different attractions, some designed for relaxation, others for play or thrills. Of these 12 attractions, 4 are dedicated to children or relaxation.
Children’s Paradise is a colorful play area built entirely for children under 1.20m. The youngest visitors can enjoy water jets and slides in complete safety. Surf Beach is a long wave pool : jump into the waves or stand back to enjoy the cool water. Bubble Bath and Lagoon Paradise are sure to please all those who come to relax. Bubble Bath is a thalassotherapy area, while Lagoon Paradise is a pool with a gentle current where you can float on an individual buoy. Finally, Dingo Dinghy takes you down a wide slide in a multi-person boat. This attraction will be the perfect opportunity to prepare for the other thrill rides at Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon…
Thrills and spills at Aqualand Bassin d’Arcachon
The water park’s attractions are divided into 3 categories : “for all”, “experienced” and “confirmed”. If you like high-speed descents and aren’t afraid of the chills, you’ll spend most of your time on the attractions in the last 2 categories. Most are limited in size. You’ll generally need to be at least 1.10 m or 1.25 m tall.
Rapids is a river that you can float down on your own buoy, making it a good place to start. If you’d like to race with friends and family, head for Surf-Racer, with its 8 runs on a mat. Black Hole is a descent for 2 in a long, dark tunnel. Some passages are illuminated, giving the impression of entering another dimension. Colorado is another descent partially in the dark, with turns to be made on a 3-seater inflatable canoe. Tornado starts with a long descent with multiple turns before ending in a giant whirlpool: you’ll spin at full speed before being sucked into its center.
Finally, The Wave and Boomerang are the 2 attractions in the park with the “confirmed” rating. The Wave is the aquatic version of the pirate ship. In pairs, you glide back and forth on a wide U-shaped wing. On Boomerang, you start with a plunge into the dark, then hurtle down a slope that propels you over a wall, reversing your trajectory.
