Arès campsite
Ares is a commune north of the Arcachon Basin, in the Gironde department (Nouvelle-Aquitaine), where our campsite is located.
It’s close to such highlights as the Prés Salés Nature Reserve and the Conche Saint-Brice. Enjoying the bright sunshine of south-western France, this town is the ideal destination for green tourism, with its varied and well-preserved varied. Discover its rich flora and fauna by exploring its clearings, forests and maritime heritage.
Arès natural sites
Les Prés Salés d’Arès
With its 400 ha, this nature reserve is the largest in Aquitaine. It is home to many species of birds, including herons, egrets, kingfishers, European pond terrapins… There are also reptiles, pond turtles and much more.
The natural site of Saint-Brice
This protected natural site stretches from Arès to Andernos. It is one of the last vast natural areas (or green belts) on the Arcachon Basin coastline. The site comprises a harmonious ensemble offreshwater ponds, anatural aquarium, a stream and anestey (a small body of water fed by the sea that runs dry at low tide).
The pond canal
The perfect place for a family outing to get closer to nature, this pond, dug out in the XIXᵉ century and landscaped, is one of Ares’ must-see walking trails . It rises in the Médoc ponds and flows into the Arcachon basin.
